Mid July we went up to Little Switzerland, NC (near the Tenn border) to visit some Fripp friends. Their ‘other home’- perched on the side of a 3000’ mountain - looks at the Blue Ridge Mts. Next day we visited Mt Mitchell (which you could see from their home) which is at 6600’ elevation-2nd highest in the US. The curvy roads are steep & w/one mistake - you’re a gonner! Then we went to Penland (world renown School of Crafts Gallery)-a truly fascinating place teaching all facets of crafts. We saw books, ceramics, drawing & painting, glass, iron, metals, photography, printmaking, textiles, & wood. We watched glassblowing! We then visited the downtown “Village” of Asheville. A delightful, memorable trip!
