Fishing & Sailing - It’s been so hot & sunny here that the Atlantic temperature at the beach was 88 degrees. In order to get fish for dinner it required a trip out to the reefs - the fish want cooler water! According to our  Captain Ralph Goodison & Rich Combes of the Sea Rescue, the fishing this year has not been great. They   expected more cobia & more tarpon. The shrimping has been just so-so, but the crabbing is not as good as in previous years. The Beaufort Marine Institute Kings for Kids Southern Kingfish Assoc Fishing Tournament was a success. The event attracted 96 boats & paid out more than $38,000 in prizes. Net proceeds from the event went to the Beaufort Marine Institute. On 9/1  the Annual Kingfish Invitational Tournament on Fripp will be held. The jellyfish so far have pretty much avoided us, but we heard about a lot of them hitting the Hilton Head beaches around the first week of August. Seems to be, when the wind is from the south-east they float on in for a few days.
