Romeo –a men’s club here -stands for ‘Retired Old Men Eating Out’ but a lot of them aren’t retired! (Can any one afford to completely retire today?) There were 57 attendees (6/10th) at the Community Center who enjoyed the super lunch. This month they had what is called chicken bog – which is rice, chicken, sausage…& there was also cole slaw & brownies. Jerry Hammet, Doug Thompson, T Thomas, Dana Dudley, Bob Doyle & Dave Harb were the chefs. Islanders are permitted to bring guests (relatives, friends, visitors) as long as the cooks are aware of the number to prepare for. Can you believe that they have this fantastic lunch for only $5! And yes, they are looking for more chefs, chef helpers, kitchen guys, & set up/take down guys…call Jerry Hammet (838-3556). When I went to vote at the Community Center, there was a tantalizing smell of great food & I felt a little sorry for those who had to work the polls all day under those conditions! It was wonderful to see our expanded Centre making good use of the partitions to accommodate different events.
