Even closer to home, Hunting Island went through some bad erosion over this period & lost two of its homes to the sea. What was upsetting is that owners were denied the chance to ‘sand bag’ for possible protection because it wasn’t a ‘named storm.’ Actually, most of the last re-nourishment (a year ago) ended after the north end work was done - the money ran out & so the south end did not receive the same ‘extra sand’ & that’s where they lost the homes (& more are in danger).
