Active Adult Living
Resort - Club Advisory Board April meeting
By

CAB meeting was 4/21 led by John Derrick. The following items were addressed: 1) The new dress code sign on the wall behind the desk at the Beach Club.   2) The Fitness Center – presently receiving complaints about the C/A (too cold or too hot {and smelly) and broken mirror because of bar bells. The attempt to relocate to the front of the island has been delayed due to the County regulations & requirements for a fire-sprinkler system. The landlord problems have been worked out-now it’s just the County. 3) Of major concern is the new computer system which will be installed first in the restaurants by Sept & then throughout the club facilities. Problems have come up with the old system which meant long waits &/or loss of business.   4) Ocean Point Pool will be open from 8AM till 7PM as per requested by the workout swimmers.   5) The Club Mgr (Gloria Snead) brought up the ‘7-day request for Amenity Cards.’ This request was sent out because in the upcoming months when things are really pretty hectic, they may need to process as many as 1500 cards/wk and it would facilitate the production if you could put in your requests ASAP & not wait till the guests show up & ‘have to wait.’ She also mentioned that the Club Survey is still in the near future. The Committee Reports covered 1) Bldg & Grounds –nothing.  2) Pools – the swipe system is not always working properly. The heated pool had been closed down once but is at 79º & the hot tub is not working. Cabana Restaurant is 11AM-4PM after 5/1. The Olympic pool has had the shower area painted (nice) and the rest rooms painted. Ocean Point pool has been reopened, Kyle Emerson (& Louis from the Marina) are doing a good job with the pools.   3) The Food & Beverage received good & bad comments – apparently there is inconsistency at the Marina.  The Jim Farber Show was very much enjoyed – he is a funny guy & a talented pianist. The Food Court at the Beach Club is doing even better than expected. (Open 8 AM to 9 PM).  4)  The tennis report showed ALL fine. 5) The Golf experience was quite a discussion – critical of the operation of OUR Masters Tournament here 4/13 & the food offered. There was a lot of bad feedback -no award presentation, lack of organization, no leadership,  bartender’s attitude, no utensils, menu not what people were expecting, & no service.  It was decided that a committee or several committees be formed to change this.    There will be an ACF Fund Raiser Cinco De Mayo Festival (golf & food) May 5th.       Also, Stuart wants members to email him direct with comments (both good & bad) @ StuartM@frippislandresort.com.
